Caring for our environment
Forth Boat Tours is an environmentally accredited attraction. We currently hold the Bronze Green Tourism Business Scheme accreditation for best environmental practice.
We annually identify, manage, monitor and minimize the environmental impact of our activities. Our focus is on the effective and efficient use of resources, energy and fuel, minimising waste, and air emissions, and preventing pollution.
Helping biodiversity
Helping biodiversity
The biodiversity of the Firth of Forth is a key element in Forth Boat Tours success and we recognise our duty to be responsible for the environmental impact our business has on the surrounding environment.
Forth Boat Tours is not just about tickets; it’s about preserving our heritage and sharing the magic of this UNESCO World Heritage site and the Firth of Forth with future generations.
Championing sustainable travel
Championing sustainable travel
At Forth Boat Tours we encourage sustainable travel and aim to enhance sustainable travel connections by working even closer with bus and rail services, and the Inner Forth Bike Bus scheme.
With this in mind, there are EV chargers at Port Edgar Marina, South Queensferry, one of Forth Boat Tours two departure points.
We also provide environmental education via our website, including sharing information on walking and cycling routes.
Reducing our carbon footprint
Reducing our carbon footprint
We always look at ways to reduce our Carbon Footprint through analysis how our operations use water, diesel and electricity.
Greater Efficiency
Consumption is measured monthly and evaluated on an annual basis as part of our overall goal to carbon net zero.
We calculate and reduce our carbon footprint over a targeted period by improving energy efficiency.
Minimise Pollution
We adhere to applicable legislation, regulatory requirements and official guidance to establish best practices to prevent contamination of the Firth of Forth.
